Shelter WF supports Housing Whitefish's proposal for Alpenglow Phase 2.

This proposal is for 18 apartment homes that will be 100% deed-restricted for permanent affordability, located just across the viaduct in Whitefish, on the same property as the current Alpenglow apartments. These homes will serve those with incomes between 60% and 120% of the area median income (AMI), though Housing Whitefish intends to keep these homes between 60% and 95% of the AMI. They requested 120% to have flexibility down the road if development costs increase beyond what is expected. 

The current Alpenglow Phase 1 provides homes for people who make <60% of the AMI.

ORAL TESTIMONY

• Testimony will take place at Whitefish City Hall (upstairs in City Council Chambers) at 7:10 pm on Monday, February 5, 2024.

• This item will have its own public hearing. When the public hearing is called (after the proposal is presented), you simply need to step to the podium to speak. It is not necessary to sign in to speak. You can provide around 3 minutes of oral testimony, and the council typically does not answer questions during this time.

Not only is this development an incredibly efficient use of space, but its proposed parking arrangements should be a model for future development in Whitefish. 

Share your own housing story or the housing story of your friends. Have you/they lost a rental in Whitefish and struggled to find another? Have you/they had rent increases beyond what you/they can comfortably afford, but the waiting lists for deed-restricted affordable housing are too long?

This development proposal will make a meaningful dent in the 975 affordable homes that Whitefish needs to build by 2030. I would appreciate your yes vote for these needed homes.
